Equipment / Vinyl Cutter

Silver Bullet
Please note that the CraftRobo vinyl cutter has been replaced by the new Silver Bullet. For information on the old cutter, please look here: CraftRobo. The CraftRobo has been stored in the trove in a plastic box along with all its accessories. It is fully working and available for anyone to use.

Summary
The new Silver Bullet cutter is available for use by any member of makespace (with or without training). It has an orange sticker.

Training sessions for using the Silver Bullet will be advertised on the makespace website and on the forum.

Using the Vinyl Cutter
Owners
The Owners are those nominally in charge of the equipment, organising its maintenance, helping others to use it, and generally being a point of contact.

The current Owners of the Vinyl Cutter are:

* Paul Osborn
* Matthew Taylor
* Mark Cheverton

If you have any questions, problems or concerns around the vinyl cutter, or would like a personal introduction to how it all works, these are the people to contact.

Training
The fact sheet for the Vinyl Cutter can be found here: Fact Sheet

Health and Safety
The vinyl cutter is a potentially dangerous piece of equipment which must be operated with due care. The top things to always remember when using the vinyl cutter are:

* ONLY USE THE VINYL CUTTER IF YOU HAVE READ THE SAFETY NOTES BELOW
* NEVER LEAVE THE VINYL CUTTER RUNNING UNATTENDED
* ONLY CUT APPROPRIATE MATERIAL

The risk assessment is located here: Formal Risk Assessment: Vinyl Cutter

Safety Notes
* SHARP BLADE - when handling the blade (eg. to adjust or change caps for different thickness) take care not to cut yourself

* TRAPPING - The head and roller of the machine are moved by programs in the machine's memory. Be careful when near the machine, it will possibly move even if the PC is off. Always keep the cover closed when cutting

Instructions
We stock Heat Vinyl on the left (for TShirts) and Sticky Backed Vinyl on the right (for Signs).

Heat Vinyl is cut upside down and mirrored.
Sticky Vinyl is cut right way up and right way round.

Draft instructions for use assuming Sticky Vinyl. If using Heat Vinyl, see Equipment/TShirtPress for alternative instructions as it's substantially different and must be mirrored.

Read all instructions and warnings before you start<br>

Overall idea:
*Create in Inkscape (see notes below about scaling if you use Illustrator!)
*Load into SureCutsALot
*Cut on the Silver Bullet
*Press on the heat press or stick to something.

Detail:
*Create your vinyl masterpiece in Inkscape
**Convert all your objects to path
**Check with view outlines it's what you want (line thickness is ignored remember)
**View -> Display Mode -> Outline
**Save as SVG
*Import into Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) on the vinyl cutter PC
**Check scale (you'll need to make things 25% larger if using Illustrator. Please don't change SCAL import settings)
**Do not mirror for sticky vinyl.
**View as outline to check (sometimes this will show things that it otherwise hides)
**Check tool offset is 0.25mm (Cutter -> Cutter Settings)
**Check mat orientation in SCAL (portrait/landscape)
*Set up Silver Bullet
**Check correct tip installed (usually 45 degree standard cutter, "Click blade holder", the red one)
**Insert sticky vinyl (if using Heat Vinyl, see Equipment/TShirtPress for alternative instructions)
**Please put money for the vinyl in the honesty box straight away
**Load up Silver Bullet with Sticky Backed Vinyl. Use the Silver Bullet Cutting Sheet to make life easy, you can get away without it for stiffer materials if leave 5cm at the top and 1cm at the bottom. Portrait or Landscape to match Cutting Sheet settings in SCAL.
**Check cut depth on red Click Blade Holder (4 for vinyl?)
**Offline mode, set to bottom right and ZERO it (offline mode, cross hair button).
***After Zeroing, press Test to do a test rectangle. Check it cuts the vinyl but not the backing.
**Move cutting head to bottom right of sheet (material at back of printer) and zero it (offline, cross hair)
**Double check you zero'd it and press Online on the Silver Bullet.
**In SCAL:
***Delete any colours you're not cutting (undo with ctrl-Z later, but don't under your mirroring!)
***Menu: Cutter -> Cut With Silver Bullet.
***Select Use Software Speed and Pressure. For Vinyl set to Speed = 200 and f=50. (could go faster? needs checking)
***Select "Origin Point". Bottom right of piece to match location in SCAL.
***Check Silver Bullet is Online.
***"Cut" to start
***Will start immediately. If there is a delay, you probably forgot Online mode and you should wait for it to download before pressing Online (probably - needs checking)

Pay for your vinyl
*Stick Transfer Tape to front of vinyl
*Weed from the back
*Stick to final location and carefully remove transfer tape

Problems
Software not connecting to cutter: "The problem was that the baud rate in the menu on the Silver Bullet was set to 9600, while the software was set to 38400. These need to match, even for USB serial, so I've reset the SB back to 38400."

Formal Risk Assessment: Glassworking

Glassworking involves both sharp, fragile raw materials and extreme heat. Most risks are obvious - sharp glass can cut you, and the hot torch and kiln can both burn. There are, however, a few non-obvious risks to be aware of:

# When working with the flame your glass will be glowing red hot or hotter, but very shortly after you put a rod down to work with something else the glass will cool to be visually indistinguishable from glass at room temperature. It may at this point still be hundreds of degrees centigrade! Do not pick anything up while someone is working at the torch without asking, you like your skin and want to keep it.
# Glass rods can stress-crack at the tip when heated. Point rods away from you and always wear eye protection - the glass won't travel far but you don't want it in your eyes.
# Some substances release toxic gases when heated to high temperatures
# For glass fusing, use glass that is designed for fusing. Please check the COE and compatibility of your glass.
# Please do not place flammable items near (<12 inches) the kiln. Please do not move the kiln closer to the walls.
# Wear dark grey safety glasses provided when looking into the kiln. Wear the blue safety glasses when working with the flame.
# Do not breathe in fine powders. Wear a dusk mask when mixing shelf primer, reapplying kiln shelf etc.
# Wear eye protection when cutting glass. Please clean surfaces afterwards with a damp paper towel. The tiny glass shards you get when you cut glass may be invisible to the eye but can be dangerous if it gets in your eyes.

Other risks will be covered during training - working with hot glass is perfectly safe as long as basic procedures are followed.

Equipment
Our kiln is a Paragon SC2 kiln with an included bead door and window. This kiln includes a controller capable of multi-step programs with controlled rate heat up and cool down cycles. It has a maximum temperature of 1100 degrees centigrade, enough to fire some metal clays and work with most kinds of glass, but not enough to act as a metal furnace. There's an instruction booklet to use both in the box below the table.

In addition to the kiln we have a HotHead gas torch, along with the appropriate connection kit to run off bulk Propane gas rather than the normal MAPP cylinders (these burn slightly hotter, but are much more expensive as they're not available in larger quantities). The torch is mounted on a height and angle adjustable stand suitable for bead work when sitting on the low stool that should be lurking around the glassworking station.

For bead working we have a variety of mandrels, bead release that can be cooked in the flame and a wedge shaped graphite marver. Also a pot of vermiculite to slowly cool your beads so they won't break.

For art glass and strip-work we have a set of cutting tools along with a slump mould for making very small (9x9cm) glass bowls. Plus Bullseye GlasTac for sticking your pieces of glass together before you put them into the kiln. Please use only glue that is safe to heat to high temperatures - superglue, for example, should NOT be used as it releases cyanide gas (yikes!) when heated to high temperatures

It is important that these tools remain exclusively used for glass, please resist the temptation to use the cutters, pliers etc for other materials!

Glass Stock
We have a selection of glass rod, sheet, stringer and frit.

The large pots of glass are bought as a random selection for about ten pounds per pot, they consist of offcuts of bullseye COE90 (coefficient of expansion, only important in as much as all glass in a particular piece should have the same number to prevent explosions!) in various thicknesses. Bullseye COE90 glass will tend to form 6mm thick sheets due to surface tension so stack your strip-work to that height.

In addition to this we have a small amount of specific colours of bullseye COE90 glass currently in clear 9x9cm sheets and larger plates of Makespace colours. We can buy at a discount from a couple of online suppliers even when ordering small quantities (a side effect of buying all the kiln and other hardware in one go!) so post to the list of you want anything in particular and we can order it.

For bead making we have a set of clear and a set of mixed coloured COE90 rods, along with tubes of frit and a selection of random stringer (1mm thick rod) glass for decoration. Prices for these are TBD, but will be printed on a sheet near the glassworking station when determined (something in the order of a pound per full rod, that would work out as around 20-40p per medium size bead, each of which would take about half an hour to make).

Location
The glassworking kit is in the corner of the main workshop nearest the stairs up to the cafe. Please keep work to the area covered by the steel sheeting - we're not working with enough material to cause a serious problem otherwise but it helps keep everything tidy. As it currently stands the station is only suitable for one person, or two if both are working together. It would be asking for trouble to try to have someone using the table to cut glass at the same time as someone was working with the torch, so please don't!

Scheduling
Unlike many pieces of equipment in Makespace the kiln requires a considerable amount of uninterrupted time to run. We don't have a formal booking system in place, so for now I suggest you email the list if you propose to use it. For example, if you're doing bead work you will be spending between half an hour and two hours (depending on how many you're making) using the hot torch, with beads being placed in the kiln at a holding temperature while the others are worked in the flame, then running an annealing cycle which will cool down under computer control for a couple of hours, then cooling to ambient before the kiln becomes available for other users. It should be possible to get two runs in a day, as long as the first is done in the morning, but no more than that.

The kiln is a model which should be possible to leave unattended once you have set the digital controller to run a specific program. Before firing make sure you sign post that the kiln is hot, that there is nothing flammable near the kiln and that there is about 12 inches gap between the kiln and the walls. Please check the firing schedule - don't assume it is set to any previous settings. If you are doing anything new/are unfamiliar with the kiln, please ensure that you can be in the space for the duration of its active firing cycle - it's fine to leave once the heating elements are off and the kiln is cooling to ambient but please hang around while it's actually firing. If firing overnight please come in the next day to turn the kiln off.

How tos
Do not use the equipment if you have not been inducted!
If in doubt, consult the Kiln manual(s), and/or speak to one of the owners (or other trained users)!

How to make glass beads
Preparation
Smell if there's any gas around (leak from the gas bottle)... If not:
# Fire up kiln
#* Turn on at the manual switch; wait for "IdLE" to appear. If it says "CpLt" press Start once.
#* Use Programme 1
#** press Review; if it shows #1, then simply press Start twice
#** if it shows some other number, consult the manual how to start Programme 1! [to be expanded]
#*** From IdLE press START (the left button) Use the Up Arrow (not the Down Arrow) to select a firing program - in this case Program 1 for annealing glass beads. Press start until the kiln starts displaying the temperature of the kiln. The clicking noise is normal.
# Get bead release to correct consistency
#* The bead release dries out over time. If it is too thick and lumpy you need to add water to it.<br />Screw on the lid and shake the bead release well to get rid of all the lumps. It should be the consistency of a thick smoothie.
# Get everything (mandrels, tools, water bucket, glass) ready and laid out, so you don't have to bend over the hot flame to fetch it later

The final firing temperature is ~530 degrees; the kiln heats up pretty quickly, so you should be able to start working on the glass bead already.

Flameworking
For each bead:

# Coat the mandrel
#* tilt the bottle before you dip
#* dip only once, turn the mandrel while it is still in the bottle without touching the sides of the bottle
#* pull out the mandrel without touching the sides of the bottle
# Turn on flame
#* the two 'outer' valves open counter-clockwise, but the 'middle' valve opens clockwise.
#* don't put the lighter directly in front of the nozzle, but slightly below/to the side
#* adjust gas flow so it doesn't sputter but doesn't have a loud "windy" noise either
# Sit on the small stool, resting your elbows on your legs; rest the mandrel on your little finger, and use thumb and index finger to rotate it
# Dry bead release & heat mandrel in flame
# Heat tip of glass rod evenly
#* the hottest part of the flame is just at the tip of the bright blue (inner) cone
#* beware of splinters (thermoshock) -- point rod away from you and other people!
#* if applicable, straighten rod out again before putting away (so the direction of thermoshock is predictable)
# Gently add molten glass onto mandrel - it is easiest to keep your glass rod still and rotate your mandrel away from you, rather than keeping your mandrel still and trying to roll glass onto the mandrel
#* the glass rod should be in the hottest part of the flame, the mandrel slightly further away
#* do not apply any significant force -- this will pull off the bead release
#* do not let the glass touch the mandrels directly (where there isn't any bead release)!
#* create overhang to prevent pointy bits around the hole of the bead
# Things you can do with the bead:
#* add little splinters of glass (put on metal table, scoop back into tube afterwards)
#* use the thin glass rods to draw lines and shapes
#* use a thin mandrel to marble/'paint' (e.g. spirals) between glasses of different color
#** if glass remains stuck to the mandrel, get it red hot and dip into the water bucket; repeat as necessary
#* e.g. silver foil to change color of glass [to be expanded]
# When done, move bead to colder part of flame till it's no longer glowing red; turn off the flame and insert mandrel into kiln
#* make sure not to touch the walls, and especially not the thermocouple at the back wall!

Repeat as needed for as many mandrels as fit into the kiln.

Wrapping up
When all the beads are in the kiln:

# Press the Skip Segment button, and then Start
# Stick around till the cooling process has finished, and the kiln returns to "IDLE" (should occur at around 370 degrees Celsius, after around 45 minutes)
# Turn off kiln, and add note saying it's still hot (which it is!)
# Leave mandrels in for another few hours (the next morning if you worked in the evening) so they can cool down to room temperature
# Don't forget to pick up your beads later to make space for other people!

Alternative method: Vermiculite
If the kiln is in use for fusing, an alternative method of cooling your beads slowly is to place them into the pot of vermiculite as opposed to the heated kiln. The vermiculite traps air around the bead, stopping it from cooling too quickly. Although for small beads this is usually sufficient to prevent the bead from cracking, to be on the safe side, you will need to anneal your bead in the kiln afterwards. (Shops will generally require you to anneal all your beads before you sell them)

# When done working with the bead in the flame, move bead to colder part of flame till it's no longer glowing red
# Turn off the flame, use the marver to push aside the vermiculite a little and plant your bead into the vermiculite.
# Leave it in there until it cools to room temp (how long this takes depends on how big your bead is, but overnight is probably the safest).

TODO - section on how to batch anneal beads in the kiln after cooling in vermiculite

Finishing
Tips & tricks for how to get beads off mandrel and what to do with them then:

* Take the forceps from the toolbox to grip the mandrel (not the glass bead), and grip the bead with your other hand and rotate
** take care not to bend the mandrel! this is particularly relevant when using the thin mandrels
* Wash the beads to get the bead release off the inside
** there are [these things with teeth on] to scratch off the bead release
** using a shoestring might work, too (for big holes)

General Health and Safety
The term "power tool" in all of the warnings listed below refers to mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety
* Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
* Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
* Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical Safety
* Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
* Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
* Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
* Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
* When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal Safety
* Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool.
* Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
* Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
* Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
* Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
* Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
* Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
* If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
CNC Router Training
This page documents the process for being trained on the CNC Router, and the list of members who have completed that training.

Summary
Training takes place in three main steps:
* Group Training of 1-4 members, going through the equipment and how to use it (~1hr)
* Individual Training Task, where an individual member is set a task to complete to prove and improve understanding (~30min each)
* Project Oversight, where more experienced users oversee the projects being undertaken when cutting (first 2-3 projects)

Training on the CNC Router is run by the CNC Router Owners. The CNC Router Owners are a group of people responsible for maintaining and training on the CNC Router, and hence have been trained to train, and trained to perform the weekly and monthly maintenance on the CNC Router.

Booking
Sessions are advertised on http://meetup.makespace.org
* For discussing training, or requesting additional slots if needed, use the mailing list thread: Training : CNC Router

Notes:
* You can only be trained if you have your name allocated to a slot (groups will be restricted to four at a time, so please don't make up additional spaces)
* You must do the group and individual training on the same day

Most recently, created a cardboard boat to take part in the 2013 annual Cambridge Cardboard Boat race. A very sturdy design let us make it to the end of the race intact and unsoggy. A sad lack of ability to steer meant we weren't the fastest though!
Student Membership is £33/month inc VAT for full student membership, but you do not get access outside of Cambridge university terms. Thus, if you are a postgrad, it might well make more sense for you to have 'normal' membership.

Students can sign up for this term-only membership at https://makespace.recurly.com/subscribe/ms-student-term-only

WORK IN PROGRESS
The vacuum former has been installed in the space and can be used safely with the instructions provided here. However, this page is still considered a work-in-progress - please add useful tips about using the vacuum former here.

Summary
Vacuum forming is a technique that is used to shape a variety of plastics. It is used to form/shape thin plastic, usually plastics such as; polythene and perspex. Vacuum forming is used when an unusual shape like a ‘dish’ or a box-like shape is needed.
Using the Vacuum Former
Owners
The Owners are those who have volunteered to be in charge of the equipment, organising maintenance, training others to use it, and generally being a point of contact. The current Owners of the Vacuum Former are:

* Stephen Woolhead
* New owners welcomed, get in touch!

If you have any questions, problems or concerns around the Vacuum Former, please use the mailing list thread:
* Discussion Log : Vacuum Former

Training
No formal training is required to operate the Vacuum Former. If you intend to make something using the vacuum former please read the Health & Safety and Safety Notes sections below before doing so. The manual is also available online in case you require additional information.

Informal training sessions will be listed in the Meetup diary

Requests for more sessions, or discussion about them should be directed to the discussion thread: Training:Vinyl Cutter

Health and Safety
Risk assessment: Equipment/VacuumFormer/RiskAssessment

The Vacuum Former is a potentially dangerous piece of equipment which must only be operated by members who have received appropriate training and who take due care. The top things to always remember when using the Vacuum Former are:
* ONLY USE THE VACUUM FORMER IF YOU ARE ON THE LIST OF TRAINED USERS
* NEVER LEAVE THE VACUUM FORMER RUNNING UNATTENDED

As a trained user, you should be very aware of the following risks and how to deal with them:

FIRE - Heating the material for too long or with the wrong settings could result in the material igniting.

ELECTRIC SHOCKS - Regular maintenance & electric survey should mean machine is safe to use. Do not use if there are any signs of damage

BURNS - Caution should be taken when using machine, ensure formed part is cool before removing. Never operate with missing or damaged safety features.

Instructions
Vacuum Former Manual

1. First, a former is made from a material such as a soft wood. The edges or sides are shaped at an angle so that when the plastic is formed over it, the former can be removed easily.

2. The former is placed in a vacuum former at the lowest position.

3. A sheet of plastic (for example, compressed polystyrene) is clamped in position above the mould.

4. The heater is then turned on and the plastic slowly becomes soft and pliable as it heats up. The plastic can be seen to 'warp' and 'distort' as the surface expands.

5. After a few minutes the plastic is ready for ‘forming’ as it becomes very flexible.

6. The heater is turned off and the mould is moved upwards by lifting the lever until it locks in position.

7. The 'vacuum' is turned on and this pumps out all the air beneath the plastic sheet. Atmospheric pressure above the plastic sheet pushes it down on the mould. At this stage the shape of the mould can be clearly seen through the plastic sheet. When the plastic has cooled sufficiently the vacuum pump is switched off.

8. The plastic sheet is removed from the vacuum former. The sheet has the shape of the former pressed into its surface.

9. The excess plastic is trimmed so that only the plastic required remains - the completed item.

Reducing Windows
Reducing windows allow the use of smaller sheet material for smaller mouldings. Reducing windows allow for better sheet utilisation.

To fit the reducing window.
* Lift the clamp frame.
* Place the lower reducing window plate on to the top frame aperture so that the corner locating screws are aligned.
* Place the top reducing window plate on the underside of the clamp frame. There are folded sections on the front and rear. The rear edge has the larger return and wraps completely around the clamp frame bar. The front fold is smaller and returns against the front clamp frame bar. The fixing bolt is fitted through the clamp frame bar and reducing plate and secured using the fixing nut.. See diagram below of side view of the top plate fitting.

* Close the clamp frame. Check alignment oftop and bottom plate. Fit the required plastic material on the sealed lower reducing plate. The material toggle clamps will need adjusting so that the clamp frame can be locked to achieve the necessary clamping pressure.

Heating times
Different materials and thickness require different heating times, here is a list that has been found to produce good results

?????

Tips & Tricks
If the platform does not raise, ensure the heater is fully back.

DO NOT use to cook pizza

How long does it take to heat the plastic sheet?
* This depends on which material and thickness is specified.

How do I know when the plastic is ready to form?
* Generally speaking it is necessary with any new material to establish the correct heating cycle. Plastic is ready to form when it becomes soft and pliable especially nearer to the clamping frame. This is known as glass transition temperature (Tg). Once you have established the time you can set the heater timer for accurate and repeated heating cycles.

Why is the plastic webbing on the mould?
* Material is too hot.
* Insufficient vacuum.
* Excess of material. Use reducing windows.
* Poor mould design.

Why can't I achieve good definition on the finished part?
* Material too cold
* Mould too cold.
* Insufficient vacuum.
* Insufficient vacuum holes in the mould

Why Is the plastic thinning over the mould when formed?
* Sheet cooled whilst forming.
* Mould design with insufficient draft angles.
* Too thin plastic gauge.
* Pre-stretch required.
* Plug assist required.

Why does the plastic bubble and pit when heated?
* Material is Hygroscopic which needs to be pre-dried prior to forming.
* Overheating.
* Mould or plastic sheet too dusty

Why does the plastic stick to the mould when I try to release?
* Mould not fixed on baseboard.
* Insufficient draft.
* Mould undercuts.

Material Stock
If you have any requests for material stock, please add them the Log.

Maintenance
The maintenance of the Vacuum Former is carried out by the Owners, with some basic maintenance being carried out by Users on every job.

Maintenance Schedule
Every job: None required

As required, by users: Ensure the inside of the machine and the heater tray is cleared of dust, dirt and debris. Do not allow dirt and loose particles to build up, particularly on the heater tray.

Monthly: Check strength of vacuum and condition of seals. Check state of electrical system.
- Wireless fingerprint reader. Lots of mobile health applications are being built and health workers in Africa have mobile phones typically. However, identifying people is very difficult - they often don’t know DOB, the names are al the same, etc.

The idea is to build a fingerprint scanner that can work over bluetooth. Nothing on the market is designed to work with mobiles, or if they are they are very expensive.
It should be
- Rugged
- Waterproof
- Shock proof
- Cheap

There’s a prototype already but they are looking for people to fill various roles.
- Hardware
- Embedded software developers
- Android developers (need to port a matching algorithm to mobile)
- Cloud systems developers (network, server - initially they want to setup the matching algorithm on the server)
- Solidworks developers

Art website of 64 skies from around the world. 64 webcams showing skies from all over the world. ability to zoom in and out.

This is strictly an art piece :)

Non-profits trying to slow down the rate of illegal logging.

Corruption is rife, so human-based systems are difficult to make work.

Can we use vehicle tracking systems to track the large vehicles that are essential for logging. Feed the data from the vehicle tracking system into a web-based frrontent. Overlay the vehicle activity over legal areas. Do the analysis to generate suspicious or illegal activity.
- Software engineers for the web-side
- People interested in the overall objective
John - jon.aas@ctinnovations.co.uk

Engineer by background who has worked for many years on subdividing a shape into cubes.

This is a practical use of 3D printing to demonstrate how subdivision can be done. There is an algorithm to determine how the subdivision should happen.

Currently the input/analysis stage is very time consuming. The aim of the project is to do the simulation and the input to the simulation very fast. Software required to allow a user to manipulate the properties of the shape in 3D - the software would need to direct/control some very powerful machines (eg multiCPU and GPGPU).

What’s required?
- People interested in the problem and into software
- People to work with them to make it happen
A machine for storing the members’ boxes in the 4ft high spaces under the kitchen and cafe. The rooms are about 2x5m but not practical for humans to go in.
The idea is to make a machine that can collect boxes for people!

What’s done: Mark is working on the mechanical solution and can pickup boxes. Is planning on the gantry side
What needs to be done: Software, help with mounting etc
Other skills sought: Someone to think about whether this is commercializable!

Tom Myers - Alex McFadden. Softprinter

the dream of 3D printing has always been to move manufacturing back into our own homes so we can print something as and when we want it. Despite the years of development in 3d printing we’re still stuck with yoda statues and shot glasses

So, let’s make something that makes things more useful! Let’s make clothes. Download a file offline, customise it to your body shape, print it in the machine. Things will fit far better than things off the oeg.

Clear technological idea about what should be done. Old knitting machines needed a human operator, but we can mechanise this and actuate all parts of the machine that need it.

Currently doing hardware prototyping. They’re in the process of building the carriage. Not yet at the electronics.

Potential to disrupt the fashion industry. Short supply chain, custom made clothes.

What’s required
- Hardware people - physical prototyping comes first. Some software people to help build things that are controllable.

This is the dump that came out of my text editor. Please feel free to clean it up! ~~

Alexandra - Simprints:

- Solidworks developers

alexandra@simprints.com

Pamela Wessen - 64skies

Based on the experience of an installation by an artist where the sky was seen through a white square in the roof (my writeup doesn’t do this justice)

Art website of 64 skies from around the world. 64 webcams showing skies from all over the world. ability to zoom in and out.

This is strictly an art piece :)

Suggestions - make a kit that requires a webcam, rPi, not much else! Auction the squares?

Danny - 1D pong game for kids to assemble at science exhibitions
(already on the wiki)

pong but in one dimensions. For kids to assemble at science festivals and then play with.

Should be deployable!

Stuart Wilson - Live monitoring system (LMS)

Non-profits trying to slow down the rate of illegal logging.

Corruption is rife, so human-based systems are difficult to make work.

Can we use vehicle tracking systems to track the large vehicles that are essential for logging. Feed the data from the vehicle tracking system into a web-based frrontent. Overlay the vehicle activity over legal areas. Do the analysis to generate suspicious or illegal activity.

Allows you to better allocate your scarce human resources to the right place!

Lots of development has happened already and there’s a small amount of funding to make this work and to demonstrate something to the Congolese government.

Required:

Mark Tillotson

Storage Robot for Makespace.

A machine for storing the members’ boxes in the 4ft high spaces under the kitchen and cafe. The rooms are about 2x5m but not practical for humans to go in.

The idea is to make a machine that can collect boxes for people!
|-
| ASR33 (Teletype) restoration
| Waiting
| JCGS
| I have an old ASR33 that I plan to restore sometime. Some mechanical work is needed, including fabricating missing parts; also tracing and testing the circuitry, and interfacing it to a modern computer.
|-
| Vehicle motor controller
| Thinking about it
| JCGS
| Once I've finished stretching my Land Rover to three axles, I'll start working on making the third axle electrically driven, with regenerative braking. I plan to make the controller myself, with big IGBTs and probably an mbed to control them.
|-
| Makespace OpenGL Visualisation
| Planned
| Wojciech
| A quick 3D mock up of procedurally generated Makespace.
|-
| Visventis (kites for wind energy)
| In process
| Robert Copcutt
| Poor people need electricity to learn to lift themselves out of poverty. A cheap way to generate electricity is therefore required. At visventis.org we believe that kites are 1 way to do that. A device to support a flying kite has already been built. We now need to add reels for the tethers, a generator and electronics to control that generator. This could be the start of something big and all help is appreciated.
|-
| Motor/generator
| Advanced concept
| Robert Copcutt
| Small electric motors can be made over 98% efficient, and cheap, by following a few fundamental principles. Keep the air-gap speed high by using a large diameter. Eliminate the iron core and use just air. Use fine wire for the coils to keep eddy current losses down. Such machines would be ideal for many projects including Visventis and electric vehicles. Tools such as good laser cutters and CNC mills are important for making some of the parts. Let's talk.
|-
| Gauss meter
| Concept
| Robert Copcutt
| This should be a quick project to aid the motor/generator project above. Gauss meters are expensive but the sensors are not. Anyone interested to help build a simple meter to measure magnetic fields?
|-
| LED strip lights
| Concept
| Robert Copcutt
| LED lights have numerous advantages except for cost. I am interested to make replacements for fluorescent tubes, but buying LEDs in the quantity to build 1 is not economical. If I design one it makes sense to share the learning and build 20. As soon as we have sufficient interest the LEDs can be ordered and construction can begin.
|-
| Home power monitoring
| In process
| Simon Stirley
| Monitoring of home mains power usage by current clamp. The clamp circuit is wired to an Arduino which monitors the current and totals up energy usage. Data is sent to a remote server via an ethernet shield every five minutes (live data)
The system also monitors PV generation and temperature. Future plans include adding logging to an SD card for finer analysis, integration with home-automation system.
|-
| Big-Mod-Trak
| In process
| Simon Stirley
| After a 'new' BigTrak failed with not enough power, the circuits were ripped out and an Arduino with motor shield replaced. It currently has a very simple drive via either a Wii Nunchuk or an automatic mode using a distance sensor for very simple collision avoidance.
More plans include using a wireless Nunchuk, more sensors, and implementing some kind of programming mode. And a rocker launcher - of course.
|-
| Coat rack
| Complete
| Steve Upton
| When we opened the space we needed somewhere to hang our coats and I thought it would better to make than buy. More details on my blog here: coat rack
|-
| OfficeHAL
| In process
| Steve Upton
| A Raspberri Pi based controller for my garden office (it is NOT a shed). My intention is to provide monitoring and control of the office environment via the web and physical controls on the device. As the rest of my office is styled on a steampunk theme OfficeHAL will be too. He currently has a wooden frame, brass porthole for an 'eye', and I'm working on a mechanical iris.
Features will include:
* Indoor temperature monitoring and control
* Outdoor weather monitoring: temp, humidity, wind speed
* Motion sensing camera
* COSM feed
|-
| Paint Robot
| Concept
| Christie Nel
| A robot for painting roofs with glow in the dark paint.
|-
| usb Stenography
| Proof of concept
| Tony Percy
| A usb keypad comprised of 7 touch sensitive buttons, with piezoelectric haptic feedback, for use in development in a form of mnemonic stenography.
|-
| 1D Pong
| Prototyping
| Danny Garden
| A 1D Pong Game. More details on my blog here: 1D Pong
|}

Communal projects
Workbenches- we need a horizontal surface to make things on, and people are keen to start making the makespace by building benches. See some suggestions for DIY workbench designs.

Automated storage/retrieval- a long-term crazy idea to build some sort of storage robot in the half-height storage area under the kitchen which will retrieve a member's storage box when they swipe their RFID tag. If you have a fleshed-out idea for how it ought to work, write up your proposal and link it from this page.

There are a range of things we could talk about this week as noted at Madespace.

We should focus on the items needing most urgent decisions, or with long lead times. Perhaps some of:

* Priorities: what’s important first? chairs, internet, kit??
* Community engagement & Culture (this intersects with Rules - eg is alcohol allowed or not) It's important because it will start to crystallise quite quickly, and once a culture is set it will be tough to change
* Where are we on the shiny / less shiny spectrum? (this affects how potential sponsors might view the space, as well as people’s attitudes to the space, whether they feel involved/responsible and so on)
* Donations: what do we take? What do we not take?
* What have we forgotten? What else should we be talking about?
* Makespace Use Cases to inform the use of space
** What uses can be made of Makespace that aren't represented by current founder community
** How can the space be arranged to be useful/flexible for these groups
** When to start reaching out to groups currently not represented

Proposed agenda:

1.  Introductions

2. Discussion of which topics (as above) should be priorities

3. Selection of 1-2 topics for the evening

4.  Working...

5. Wrap up and sharing results
6. Planning next meeting

Introduction
We're planning a big outreach event, the Engineering Festival, which will take place on 18th October 2011, at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. Such outreach is very important for the Makespace community, as helping engage and inspire young people is a big part of the reason we think Makespace is necessary, and hopefully it will help us reach our engagement targets set as a requirement for receiving our bootstrap funding.

This will be a day for secondary school pupils aged 15+ to have a go at some hands-on, problem-solving engineering work, and also learn more about the engineering industry. Ideally the day will include a range of quality interactive engineering activities - very hands-on - as well as talks and demos. The event is being organised in collaboration with STEM TEAM and Duxford, and aims to attract at least 400 students from across the region, who are studying science/engineering/design&technology at BTEC, GCSE or A level.

We need your help, now, in planning and designing workshops, and on the day!

For the event to be a success, it would be great if you could offer any or all of the following things. Please add your ideas to the Meetup page, or drop us a line at info@makespace.org if you think you can help with any of these, so that the organisers have time to pull together the plan and get schools and companies on board.

* ideas for hands-on activities which could work within a day (~6 hours maximum) or a shorter session, with this age group. This could be from any type of engineering - we'd really like to have a wide range
* suggestions of potential sponsoring companies (most useful if you can provide a relevant contact at the organisation) - any level of sponsorship is welcome, in cash or in kind
* offers of talks (any duration!) which would interest the students
* suggestions for celebrity speakers or exciting topics where a speaker could be found, which could provide a high profile "keynote" element to the day
* volunteers to test out the ideas for hands-on activities (this testing will probably take place in late March or early April - all welcome! We'll need to figure out what can be done with what equipment, how long a task might take a 15-17 year old, etc)
* offers of demos from companies, which could be given at a stand in a "trade show" type area
* volunteers to help out on 18th October itself (briefing and support will be given in advance through the STEM TEAM network; existing STEM Ambassadors will probably hear about this event separately, too, in which case volunteering through STEM TEAM is fine and you don't need to contact Makespace as well)
* contact with teachers and schools in the East of England that would be interested in attending.

Overarching Theme
We would like a theme to run through all the activities in the event, and propose something like "The city of the future" because it is possible to explain almost all engineering tasks in this light. Another possible theme that would likely easily tie in with everything for the same reasons would be "Rebuilding a city after a disaster" - this needs a catchier name, but includes a good humanitarian angle, and is also topical after the Japan earthquake.

Below are possible narratives to accompany the existing exercises.

STEM/Makespace Activities:
* Civil/structural build: Building with less material and recycled materials
* Bridge building with CAD: Optimising all designs using computer modelling, reducing waste and increasing safety
* Acoustic Engineering: Avoiding 'bad areas' in cities so housing can be located near industry with no noise pollution
* Wind Tunnels and CAD: How to make the most efficient mass transport system: Saving energy, getting people around faster.

Other/business activities:
* ARM/Robotics: Automated warehouses, automated transport, better supply chains and clearer roads
* Mindstorms: As above
* Marshalls: Unknown - silent aircraft? Can they think of anything to tie in to this theme?
* Network Rail: Reliability of transport system
* Drawdio Pro/Engineer: Customised products, everyone has a printer in their home, downloadable and sharable designs
* Rapman: As above
* ART VPS and St Johns: Instant prototyping where everyone can design their own products. Fewer warehouse required.

Activity ideas
Ideas after discussion on 14th July 2011

Strongest Rope from Bags
Link to city of the future: Recycled materials, zero waste

A challenge to make the strongest rope from old plastic bags. The rope will be tested in various ways, for example load on the bottom, load in the middle of a suspended section. Other possible constraints:
* Minimum plastic deformation
* Must remain strong when knotted
* Secondary prize for weight per bag used.

Testing should happen incrementally - the challenge should not be a 'success or failure' matter - rather a test of how much weight a rope can take.

Extension activity: What mechanism would be most appropriate for joining sections of rope?

Items required:
* Bags!
* Pulleys to make testing more impressive (we can run normal rope through the pulleys and attach the bag-rope to the bottom section).

Theory/class:
* Plastics
* Pulleys
* Recycling
* Tensions, plastic deformation

Printed EVERYTHING
Link to city of the future: Modern manufacturing techniques, automation, cooler buildings

How do design options and constraints change when houses, boats, etc, can be printed and not constructed in the conventional way?

Students will draw on the top of foam (perhaps via paper) and cut out a number of 2D layers in order to make printed objects.

Things to make:
* House, with at least two rooms and a roof, optionally a second story with stairs (!)
* Community centre, architecturally remarkable
* Boat - must float and have space for living in

All would require at least one window, one door and a sloped roof.

Requirements:
* Many sheets of foam
* Pens
* Example designs
* (Computer with software to turn 3D design in to 2D layers?)

Theory/class
* Printed buildings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfbhdZKPHro
* Buoyancy
* Housing and social issues
* 3D printing
* CAD designs (with 3D--> 2D conversions)

perhaps compare additive and subtractive techniques?
eg Subtractive modelling: Macbook Pro, iMac keyboard from the display
Inflatable, concrete buildings
Link to city of the future: Prepared for disaster, large population influx
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCC5kb9ZD3Y
How can you erect structures very quickly as temporary housing, say in a disaster situation? This workshop will look at the possibility of using an inflatable structure that is then concreted.

Students start with a hard board with lots of holes in it, string, clay and a balloon. The idea is to use the string to constrain the balloon as it inflates to get different shapes of buildings. Once the building is inflated it can be covered with 'clay' (salt dough?) and then a kitchen blowtorch used to set it.

Currently this exercise lacks a design challenge component, it is rather aesthetic

Potentially an overly simple exercise, testing required!

Requirements:
* Balloons
* String
* Boards with holes in
* Clay or salt dough.
* (blowtorch)

Energy Recovery Systems
I think we didn't reach a conclusion on how this might work:

Challenge to recover energy from a system rolling down a hill? Flywheel, elastic, how to mount, etc?

Link to F1 and KERs, etc - Cosworth?

Insulation
Link to 'Home of the Future': Reducing energy consumption, drug storage and transport

Challenge to use a range of materials to insulate (I love, for example, that people find it counterintuitive to use a woollen jumper to keep a cold thing cold, but it seems obvious to keep a hot thing hot!)

Students could have a 'drug' that needed to be transported at a fixed temperature, and have to design cases to keep it at that temperature.

Designs are assessed on cost, size and performance, so all 3 constraints must be considered.

Task would involve:
* Intro: insulation, cost of all the materials, size requirements
* Chance to test various materials
* Design of 'vessel'
* Testing of insulation

Example constraints:
* Minimise cost
* Minimise size
* Must open to accept vessel of fixed size
* Maximise temperature stability

Requirements:
* Liquid and a way to heat it
* Some way of measuring temperature - perferrably highly graphical
* A large number of insulating materials to choose from
* Scissors, tape, etc
* Tape measure for measuring final vessels.

Energy consumption research task
Treat the incoming students as a group of highly paid consultants. They have to define the high level energy plan for the city.

Based on testing a number of different systems set-up, what do they think are the right solutions?

This would require us to set up some example systems that could easily be tested.

This task lends itself well to the Kinetic energy recovery task too - which types of KER are useful and which ones are just all talk?

City planning/polution 'game
Laura has details...

* Balloons
* String
* Boards with holes in
* Clay or salt dough.
* (blowtorch)

Hi everyone,

This month, as well as our ongoing efforts around space and an event in science week (http://meetu.ps/L8HF), we're planning a big outreach event which will take place on 18th October 2011, at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. Such outreach is very important for us, as helping engage and inspire young people is a big part of the reason we think Makespace is necessary, and we hope it will help us reach our engagement targets set as a requirement for receiving our bootstrap funding.

This will be a day for secondary school pupils aged 15+ to have a go at some hands-on, problem-solving engineering work, and also learn more about the engineering industry. We hope to offer a range of quality interactive engineering activities - very hands-on - as well as talks and demos. The event is being organised in collaboration with STEM TEAM and Duxford. We hope to attract at least 400 students from across the region, who are studying science/engineering/design&technology at BTEC, GCSE or A level.

We need your help, now, in planning and designing workshops and on the day!

We are looking for any or all of the following things. Please get in touch with us at info@makespace.org before Friday 19th March if you think you can help with any of these, so that we have time to pull together the plan and get schools and companies on board.

Hello all!
We're going to start sending more regular updates on what's going on with Makespace, as things are beginning to move a bit faster. An archive of update emails will be available on the Makespace wiki at http://makespace.org/wiki/index.php/Updates
1: Makespace has incorporated as Makespace Cambridge Ltd
In order to continue bringing things together and to prepare for opening a bank account and accepting the allocated sponsorship (40k, for those that haven't been keeping up) we've created Makespace as a Company Limited by Guarantee. There are three directors

1. Simon Ford
2. Jonathan Austin
3. Laura James

This is an exciting an important step for Makespace, as it allows us to do things like sign leases and buy stuff!

The CLG framework was chosen after taking a lot of advice and discussion with Founding Members, which we wrote up on the wiki: http://makespace.org/wiki/index.php/Structure

We have used Companies House's standard CLG articles of association, to which we are freely able to add 'Charitable Objects' and some limitations about spending to in order to be eligible to apply for charitable status

2: We have found a potential interim space and are pursuing something more permanent
We are currently negotiating a lease for a space on Newnham Road, near the Granta Pub. This space is due to be demolished in early 2012, so unfortunately this will not be a permanent location for Makespace. Those that came to our most recent pub-meet had a look around and the feedback was very positive!

There are a few details to sort out, but we hope to have an update with some good news soon.

If you want to get more of an idea of the locations we've been looking at (and add your comments) have a look at

http://makespace.org/wiki/index.php/PossibleLocations

3: What happened at Make!?
The Make event was great fun, and we're very grateful to ideaSpace for hosting us!

The photos are on Meetup.com here: http://meetu.ps/4td7
There were some cool things worked on, including
* WiFi Remote Control Big Track
* Cajon drum
* Beehive temperature monitor
* Kids text/chat hardware hacked as spectrum analyser and pc-free chat system
* Kinect hacking
* Iron Man chest-plates
* Spiral pencils

So it was pretty productive!

4: Photos!
We are 'cammakespace' on Flickr (as we are on twitter). We'd really like to build up a good pool of photos from events and of things people have made AT events.

We would suggest people upload photos of any makespace events to flickr with the tag 'cammakespace' so that everyone can view them!

What is Makespace?
Makespace is a community workshop in Cambridge, UK, for people to come and meet, learn and building (almost) anything.

It is currently being bootstrapped by its founders, and will be an industrial/warehouse building in the city, containing:
* A FabLab including a 2D laser cutter, 3D printer, CNC Router, Soldering stations, etc
* A meeting and training area including a projector, chairs, etc
* Flexible access control and facilities
* The surroundings to meet, work, build, socialise and do amazing things

And as a community resource, it'll bring together a network of enthusiasts and innovators, the prototyping industry, consultants, businesses and educational communities in a mutually beneficial way. It is aiming to reach people from all across the East of England, using Cambridge as the initial hub.

If this sounds interesting, you should join:
* http://www.meetup.com/makespace

Who should be involved?
The space will be great for individuals wanting to experiment, startups or companies wanting access to prototyping equipment, companies in the business who can come and do training and provide services beyond Makespace, and groups that want space to meet. Anyone who could benefit from a shared space focused on making things.

At its core will be a membership-based structure, and we'll include a few distinctions such as:
* Individuals who want to support and make use the space, a bit like a gym (approximately £50/month)
* Potential "residents" who could make use the space in a relatively full-time way (e.g a startup, consultant, ...)

Help make sure everyone who should know about Makespace knows about Makespace!

Any individual or company interested in Makespace should join our "Meetup" group, where we can organise meetings and share progress:
* http://www.meetup.com/makespace
Please pass it on, and encourage people to sign up!

And it doesn't just have to be electronic; here are some extra resources to help you spread the word in the real world:
* A5 Flyer
* A4 Poster
Please post them in offices, clubs, related shops, and anywhere you think will catch the eye of an interested person!

Meetups and Mailing List
For upcoming real-world meetings, see:
* http://www.meetup.com/makespace

For any "maker" chat we have a general 'Makers' list - chat doesn't need to be specifically about Makespace...
* http://makespace.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/makespace

For setting up Makespace and planning how things should work we have a different mailing list
* http://makespace.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/makespace

You can also view the list archive

For IRC you can use #makespace on Freenode
* You can also access this via your browser at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=makespace

Sponsorship and Donations
If you're feeling generous, head over to DonationsWelcome, where we're tracking the things we need and the things people have that we might need.

Current Status
Funding has been secured to help bootstrap Makespace, and a summary of the progress was presented at our Make-a-makespace event:
* Make-a-makespace Presentation
This means it is all going ahead, so get involved now to help create this thing!

At that event, a pledge form for potential founding members to commit £250 for 6 months membership was circulated. This was to help find a core group of people willing to commit to work on setting up makespace, and we had a great response. If after reading what we are up to, you think you'd be willing to get involved in setting this up at this early stage, you can still make your pledge online at:
* http://tinyurl.com/mspledge
Note: Not pledging will obviously not exclude you from Makespace once it is setup, but we think this is a good way to find people willing to commit now to help guide makespace as it is set up.

The current focus of the group is:
* Finding and securing a space
** See PossibleLocations
* Specifying and creating the legal structure
* Specifying the principles and structure of the "society" that will run it
* Looking for further sponsorship opportunities

Here are the working specification documents:
* Structure

Meetings
There are brief write-ups of relevant meetings provided at Meetings, committee meeting minutes are also listed below:

This was a meeting at a free IP surgery in ideaSpace. What's written here is not legal advice, but is useful and interesting.

Most interestingly, Hepworth Browne are interested in running patent, IP workshops for makespace/in makespace. There would be minimal cost for such an event and it could include information about patents, trademarks, etc.

Getting a trademark: name needs to be unique. Some potential issues with Makespace, need to look in to them. Names that are overly descriptive are borderline.
Costs to register a trademark depend on what, where, how many categories it is registered in. For example, if only registering the name for use in food and drink industry it is much cheaper than registering it for 10 different areas. UK has 45 'classes' that a mark can be registered in.
* Just registration: £200 (ie DIY, handle all law yourself)
* Registration + legal fees £450ish assuming no difficulties.

There is a thing called a 'rightstart' application where a company pays half the fees, only paying the full amount if the trademark is registered successfully.

Notes about work in Makespace and Patents
When working on a patentable idea in a space like Makespace, users must be aware that sharing, publishing, etc without an NDA is likely to make a patent impossible.
Makespace should have some framework in place to allow people to work on patentable ideas (at cost, presumably).

* http://www.meetup.com/makespace

* http://www.meetup.com/makespace
Please pass it on, and encourage people to sign up!

And it doesn't just have to be electronic; here are some extra resources to help you spread the word in the real world:
* A5 Flyer
* A4 Poster
Please post them in offices, clubs, related shops, and anywhere you think will catch the eye of an interested person!

Meetups and Mailing List
For upcoming real-world meetings, see:
* http://www.meetup.com/makespace

For any "maker" chat, and for discussions related to setting this up, there is a mailing list you can subscribe to:
* http://makespace.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/makespace
* You can also view the list archive

For IRC you can use #makespace on Freenode
* You can also access this via your browser at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=makespace

Sponsorship and Donations
If you're feeling generous, head over to DonationsWelcome, where we're tracking the things we need and the things people have that we might need.

Current Status
Funding has been secured to help bootstrap Makespace, and a summary of the progress was presented at our Make-a-makespace event:
* Make-a-makespace Presentation

* http://tinyurl.com/mspledge
Note: Not pledging will obviously not exclude you from Makespace once it is setup, but we think this is a good way to find people willing to commit now to help guide makespace as it is set up.

The current focus of the group is:
* Finding and securing a space
* Specifying and creating the legal structure
* Specifying the principles and structure of the "society" that will run it
* Looking for further sponsorship opportunities

Here are the working specification documents:
* Structure

Meetings
There are brief write-ups of relevant meetings provided at Meetings, committee meeting minutes are also listed below:
